Permanent Record Podcast

Brian and Sarah are your hosts for this look back at albums from the New Wave and Classic Rock genres-- albums which have earned a permanent spot in their record collection. The hosts start the discussion with a history of the album, followed by their personal history with it. Over the course of two episodes, they do a track-by-track review of the album and the videos that accompany the singles. They conclude by each giving the album a final review and rating of zero to five record adapters. Join Brian and Sarah in this fun look back at the hits-- along with some misses-- of the 70s and 80s!

Episode 145: A-ha - Scoundrel Days (1986) Part 3 and new single “I’m In” (2022)

Brian and Sarah are back and ready to talk more about a-ha! But instead of getting right back into the discussion of a-ha's second album, the hosts find themselves with a bit of an "a-ha emergency" to address. Just as Brian and Sarah were preparing for this episode, a-ha released a new single from their forthcoming album!

The new single is called "I'm In," and it will be on the album "True North," scheduled for release in October. The video for the song is taken from the film made to accompany the new album. The plans are for the film to be released in select locations worldwide later this summer, so keep watching the internet for more details.

Track by Track, continued
After sharing their thoughts on the new single, Brian and Sarah turn their attention-- and their calendars-- back to the a-ha album released in1986, "Scoundrel Days." So far they've discussed the first three tracks on the band's  sophomore effort, and all three were met with enthusiastic praise by our hosts. There are two more songs-- one of which was a single-- on Side One, and the question asked in the last episode was, "Will this album be one of those rarities with a perfect Side One, where every track is excellent?"

Brian and Sarah definitely answer that question as they talk about the songs "October" and "Manhattan Skyline,.” They also find themselves talking more about Tears For Fears, and Sarah almost has to bring Brian back to the topic at hand like she does when he starts going off on a James Bond tangent!
